Chelsey Watts

Chelsey is the first African American Associate attorney at Litchfield Cavo, LLP in Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas practicing General Liability, Insurance Coverage, Products Liability, and Trucking Liability. Litchfield Cavo, LLP is a premier coverage and litigation defense law firm with 23 offices serving more than 35 states.  Litchfield Cavo’s core principle is client service comes first. Chelsey is the Director of the J. L. Turner Legal Association. She was recently admitted into the U.S. District Court Northern District of Texas.  Before becoming a defense attorney, Chelsey was a Plaintiff’s personal injury attorney at Ben Abbott & Associates. She graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University with a Juris Doctor and from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Chelsey is an accomplished attorney who is committed to the legal profession. Throughout her professional career, she has focused her practice on personal injury, insurance defense, trucking liability, premises liability, general liability, and employment law cases. Chelsey has experience and a particular strength in litigation, drafting legal documents, analyzing records, and strategizing for trial. She gained valuable experience in motion practice, conducting and defending depositions, and participating in mediations on behalf of her clients.  Chelsey served as first chair in more than 10 trials in Dallas, Tarrant, Hill, Johnson, and Ellis counties. In addition to her private practice experience, she worked as an in-house Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, Child Support Division. During this time, Chelsey gained valuable insight into family law and confirmed compliance with agency policies and procedures. Previously, she handled mass tort and product liability cases, including matters involving Essure removal and Hernia Mesh failure. Chelsey continues to make a positive impact in the legal profession with her proven track record and diverse legal experience.  Chelsey was recognized as one of The National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 Black Lawyers in Texas. This exclusive recognition is reserved for the Top 40 Under 40 African American lawyers in each state, recognized for their outstanding legal skills and professional contributions. The National Black Lawyers is a professional organization dedicated to honoring legal excellence, promoting attorneys as subject-matter experts, sharing information, and fostering strong national network of Top African American lawyers.
