The JLTLA Foundation is a non-profit institution under Section501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation's mission is to improve the quality of life in our community through education, service, and scholarship. The Foundation's Board of Directors has established the following primary goals:

Provide legal workshops to indigent residents in the North Texas area
Provide scholarships to students demonstrating financial or other needs
Provide educational seminars to North Texas area residents

Each year, hundreds of people are expected to benefit from the Foundation's programs. The Foundation projects that its gifts will support a variety of community, legal and educational programs, such as providing annual scholarships to minority law students, legal workshops, and educational seminars for North Texas area residents and attorneys.

Foundation Directors are J.L. Turner Legal Association members that are elected at annual meeting of Foundation. Foundation Directors vote to determine which Directors will serve as Officers of the Foundation.

Letter from the Chair

It is my pleasure to serve as Chair of the J.L. Turner Legal Association Foundation 2010 Board of Directors. As we embark on another successful journey this year, I would like to take this opportunity to commend our Immediate Past Chair, Veretta Frazier for her hard work and diligent efforts over the past year.

It is my vision that the Foundation will accomplish the following goals and objectives:

1. Provide funding to enhance the resources for J.L. Turner Legal Association Foundation to increase scholarships for African-American law students.

2. Enhance the image of J.L. Turner Legal Association Foundation by expanding the pipeline for African-American students entering the legal profession.

3. Coordinate fundraising efforts between J.L. Turner Legal Association and J.L. Turner Legal Association Foundation.

It is only through efforts of all of us that we will be able to achieve and exceed the above identified goals and objectives. Accordingly, I solicit and welcome your valued suggestions, comments, participation and cooperation in making 2010 an exciting and successful year.
